FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
    [last update 12/26/10]

1. When, oh when, will Verizon provide FiOS to my neighborhood?
Verizon contractually has until February 13, 2012 to provide service to the entire town.  All homes with aerial utilities, and many with underground utilities, should now have access to FiOS.  Please contact me if you have aerial utilities and cannot get FiOS.  If you have underground utilities, but do not get FiOS, there is little the Town can do before 2/13/12.  Verizon will not share their construction schedules with the Town, so the Town cannot access their specific plans.

If you live in Sudbury,  and are reading this after February 13, 2012, and Verizon says that their FiOS service is not available to you.  Please Email me (use the link in the 2nd section above) with your name, address, phone number, and, if you have it, who you spoke to at Verizon.  Thanks in advance!

One observation - Verizon appears to do their underground builds in two steps:  First, an "infrastructure" crew lays the main trunk down the street, and later a different crew does hookups to individual homes.  In Sudbury, it seems that the first crew has run way ahead of the second one, so many neighborhoods have been visited, with fiber buried, but no service has been offered.  Unfortunately, all you can do is wait, or possibly call Verizon to express your interest.   Of course, another choice is to call COMCAST.  Once you get past the hype, there are many who believe the services provided by the two vendors are much more similar than different.
